The project team jointly designed the "Fanling North Virtual
World Architecture Workshop" programme for TWGHs Tseng Hin Pei Primary School,
in collaboration with educational technology company Gamenoodlesoup Limited.
Using an innovative educational approach, the workshop leads students into the
field of urban construction, explores the development potential of the new
areas in Fanling North, and nurtures students' sense of care for the community.
As part of the programme, students visited the Fanling North Community Liaison Centre. Through detailed briefings by the project team, they gained an in-depth understanding of the planning philosophies of the Kwu Tung North Fanling North New Development Area, and fully recognised the diverse community needs that must be taken into account in the process of urban development. The team also focused on introducing key engineering projects of the Fanling Bypass, including the cutting-edge Horizontal Bridge Rotation Operation and the use of Ultra-high Strength S960 Steel in construction, enabling students to get up close to state-of-the-art urban infrastructure technologies and broaden their architectural knowledge.
During the workshop, students built virtual cities using Minecraft Education, putting the basic concepts of architectural planning into practice. They also reflected on the practical needs of regional development and cultivated empathy for community groups. The outcomes of this workshop are currently on display at the Fanling North Community Liaison Centre until 30 April, showcasing students' imaginative visions for the community and their 3D-printed creations. Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition to appreciate the creative works of the students and experience the promising future of Fanling North as envisioned by the younger generation.
