Yard Waste Upcycling Rubbing and Sign Language Workshop

The Volunteer Team of the North Development Office of the Civil Engineering and Development Department and the Volunteer Team of the Alliance for the Remaining Phases of the Kwu Tung North/Fanling North New Development Areas, together with hearing-impaired members of the charitable organization "Silence," recently held the Yard Waste Upcycling Rubbing and Sign Language Workshop at the Fanling North Community Liaison Centre to promote environmental protection and social inclusion.

The event included Yard Waste Upcycling Rubbing Workshop and a Sign Language Experience Session. Volunteers and hearing-impaired participants worked together to create rubbings of tree rings from discarded wood onto fabric bags, transforming garden waste into unique eco-friendly artworks, showcasing the value of resource regeneration. Volunteers also tried to communicate by using sign language, breaking down language barriers, and creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere. At the end of the event, everyone gathered to enjoy sweet glutinous rice balls to celebrate the upcoming Lantern Festival and took a group photo as a memento.
